Minera Ojos del Salado has acted responsibly and decisively to mitigate the possible effects of the sinkhole that appeared on its property, in the Tierra Amarilla commune, pending and without prejudice to the possible findings of the final report of the sectoral authorities on the origin of the event.

During these more than two months we have focused our efforts on three areas. One of them is the concern for the health and safety of our workers, and of the community. Another priority has been the analysis, measurements, and permanent monitoring of the sinkhole, together with the development of a sophisticated engineering project, carried out during the month of September, to stop the infiltration of water in Mina Alcaparrosa. Likewise, we have focused on the search for a formula to minimize the impact on employment, due to the suspension of productive activities at the site. To do this, we are working in coordination with the authorities.

Regarding the formulation of charges by the Superintendency of the Environment, Minera Ojos del Salado was notified yesterday and at this time we are making the corresponding analysis. The company is convinced, based on the data collected and analyzed to date, that multiple factors influenced the formation of the sinkhole in the terrain of our site, with mining activity being a relevant one.
